Survival

Considering that survival is supposed to be one of the strongest instincts in humanity, we show surprisingly little regard for the damage we are causing to the planetary systems that keep us alive!

I can only assume that the climatic changes we are witnessing are not perceived as a threat. The random and occassional natural disaster, appearing on our television screens, is remote from the majority of us and the east coast of North America has always suffered from hurricans! That may be true but, when these independant events are viewed in the context of global changes, they take on a different meaning. Meteorological science is better informed and equipped and is capable of measuring aspects not previously understood such as the drop in temperature of the Gulf Stream, the rate of Ice cap melt and the extinction of an increasing number of species, all of whom contribute to the food chain and natural balance of life on the Earth. We should be worrying and calling for action!
