The growth of human society on this planet, unlike every other biological living species, has been at the expense of it's finely balanced natural systems. Humanity is both highly inventive and devastatingly destructive and has never been able to live in symbiosis with the planet's environment and natural resources. Much of what we do now is determining what the quality of life will be on this planet in the not to distant future. Many will claim that a single voice will have no impact! It is the cumulative 'single voices' of our society that elect the individuals who govern us and make the decisions which can alter the impact humanity has on it's environment. If we want to salvage at least some quality of life to pass on to our descendants, it's vital that we take an interest in what is happening in our society in order to make informed decisions about it's future. It's already too late to prevent some major changes to our environment where the need to adapt will be forced upon us. The decisions we or our governments need to make and enforce, now! are not going to improve our lifestyle but will likely preserve our species, if we have the courage to take them!
